“Acting in the Certain Way”
Once you have decided what you want, and you are learning how to focus on your thoughts, it’s time to take the next step. You need to put action behind your thoughts. Your actions are a logical progression of your thoughts.
These seven principles emphasize the importance of taking action:
1. Thought is not enough; you must take action.
When you simply think about what you want, and you don’t take any action, nothing happens. I remind myself every day: “Nothing happens if nothing moves.”
Your actions will follow your thoughts. That is why it is vitally important to think the right thoughts first and to know exactly what you want. Then and only then can you take the right action.
2. You must be willing to receive what you want when it comes to you.
Giving is easy. Receiving is a whole lot harder, and this is where many of us fail. The Bible says, “You reap what you sow.” When you “sow” specific thoughts, and then take the specific actions it takes to make it happen, then you will reap the harvest here. Be ready to receive what it is that you want and do it with an attitude of gratitude.
3. You must give every man more in use value than he gives you in cash value.
The Golden Rule of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is absolutely vital to your success. If you treat others the way you want to be treated, regardless of how they treat you, your actions will always come back to you in a positive way (unless you simply like treating others badly).
Operate on the creative plane. Give to your customers, as well as those around you, your very best. Offer them real solutions that actually help them grow. By helping others in the right way, you will achieve what you want.
Zig Ziglar said it best: “You can have everything in life if you will just help others to get what they want.”
4. You don’t have to guide the creative process.
Your job here is to focus on a clear mental picture of exactly what it is that you want. By doing this, it will put the process in motion and bring to you what it is that you want. Then put your actions behind it.
5. Don’t postpone action because you think you aren’t in the right business or environment.
Often when we think about what we want, we wait until we have what we want before we allow ourselves to enjoy any satisfaction. This is the wrong attittude. We should be grateful for what we have now, and enjoy our life as it is now.
6. Take action in the present.
There is only NOW. God doesn’t live in yesterday, or in the future. He lives outside of time, and so there is only the present for Him. The same is true for all of us. All we have is right now. Take action and take action now.
7. Don’t spend your time day dreaming.
When we day dream, that’s all it ever is, a dream. Nothing happens. Focus on what you want. Believe that it is yours. Take the action to get it. That is the formula for success.
